Submission Guidelines

PoetryNetwork.me is a sharing platform for and by poets. We welcome you to submit your poems for review and sharing on this site.

  • We do not accept submissions of previously published poetry without the permission of the copyright holder and publisher.
  • We do not accept poetry containing graphic violence, sexual content, or profanity.
  • We do accept poems in all forms and media, including text, images, and spoken word poetry in audio or video files. When you submit the form below, you’ll be directed to a follow up page with instructions about how to submit your work to our editors.
  • Please don’t submit more than five poems per week. If you’d like help with your poetry manuscript, contact us.

What are we looking for? We’re looking for original works that pay close attention to literary technique. “Literary technique” includes

  • close attention to line. Poetry isn’t just sentences written with line breaks: where you place your line breaks matters, to you and to your readers. 
  • communication of thought through voice, narrative, character, imagery, and metaphor rather than direct statements of feeling or sentiment.
  • awareness of poetry as being constructed to create an effect on its readers. In other words, you know as a writer that what you’re feeling as you write the poem isn’t as important as what your readers feel when they read it, and that those can be two different things.

3. I give poetrynetwork.me or its assigns non-exclusive (I can publish my poem or other media elsewhere if I desire) permission to publish my poem or other media in possible future printed or digital anthologies.
4. I affirm that I will contact poetrynetwork.me immediately if my poem or other media is published in a venue that requires additional permissions or payment for republication of the poem on this website.
